LSU Basketball Beats Mississippi Valley State In Season Opener, 106-60

BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU opened the season with a 106-60 win over Mississippi Valley State Monday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The win marks LSU’s tenth consecutive season-opening victory.
LSU (1-0) was led by Will Baker, who recorded a career-high 29 points in 32 minutes and sat out for most of the second half. Baker also pulled down five boards and had one assist and one block in the win. Jordan Wright turned in 12 points, while Tyrell Ward and Daimion Collins each chipped in 11 points.
Rayquan Brown led Mississippi Valley State (0-1) with 17 points, and Arecko Gipson and Donvan Sanders followed with 15 and 13 points, respectively.
LSU scored 100 points in a regular season game for the first time since defeating ULM 101-39 on Nov. 9, 2021. The Tigers concluded Monday’s game shooting 57.6 percent (34-of-59) from the floor and 53.8 percent (14-of-26) from behind the arc.
