The players want a lot of things that are stupid. Just because it’s “their thing” doesn’t mean that we have to love it. It’s dumb. It’s a number. The same number that all the other stars wear so he’ll be forgotten easier. It bestows perfection on a imperfect player and causes fans to be assholes when he drops a single pass or misses a single block. If the players want that, fine. I still think it should go away.
