LSU head coach Les Miles was asked Monday during his press conference about Leonard Fournette and the chatter that surrounds him as a Heisman candidate leader after his punishing performance against Auburn in which he ran for 228 yards and three touchdowns.

Here is some of what he had to say, according to The Advocate:

Heisman hopeful: Sophomore RB Leonard Fournette surged to the front of the Heisman Trophy race following his big day against Auburn last Saturday. Miles said he’s “for national awards to our players” and that Fournette should be considered for them, but that’s not what he’s focused on. “Our team recognizes that if we have success and continue to do the things we’ve been doing, there will be a lot of national awards sprinkled throughout,” Miles said.

Miles probably wants LF7 to get the Heisman more than Fournette does.

Fournette encompasses everything a Heisman winner should be. I am thankful to have he opportunity to watch him play. Much respect.
