Les Miles provided a few updates on talented freshman signees Andre Anthony and Ed Alexander who have not yet enrolled at LSU.

Alexander, a four-star defensive tackle from Hammond, LA who has been working to get qualified over the summer is expected arrive on campus in August, according to Miles.

The entire team is set to report back to campus on August 4th.

Anthony, a four-star defensive end from Edna Karr in New Orleans, has not been cleared by the NCAA and is facing more difficult hurdles because of a school he attended in the past that is now shut down. Per The Advocate:
quote:

“Certainly they’ll be an appeal, and we’re very optimistic (about the appeal),” Miles said Thursday from Southeastern Conference media days. “At this point, he’s not been decided on (by the NCAA). There will be an appeal.”

The hangup regards Anthony's year and a half spent at Miller McCoy Academy in New Orleans. Miller McCoy shut down two years ago, and the NCAA is questioning his coursework from Miller McCoy, Miles indicated in an impassioned statement defending Anthony.

“I just can’t imagine that after the school district demands you attend (a certain school), and you attend and do well, and then you leave and go to a more scholastic school and do well … I can’t believe they’re not taking the Miller McCoy (course work),” he said, twice lightly pounding his fist on a table before him.
