The rant told me we were the worst 3-0 team ever.

Always liked Herbstreit. Salt of the earth I always said.

What does that mean?

Penn State has beaten 3 FCS teams. Whew ! and now a well deserved week off! Schedule difficulty rank 62 or so. 3 ranked teams on there entire schedule. Maybe 2. Indiana could slip from 19th before they play.
Why is this team in anyone’s conversation

62 is beyond generous. That must be their schedule strength from a week or two ago, because PSU is now well past 100. They’ve had one of the easiest schedules of any of the 136 FBS teams.

We are hypercritical of our own team, there are no juggernauts.

I want to see what LSU's "A game" looks like. They played solid on the road at Clemson, but they seemed to sleepwalk through the last 2 games and kinda makes giddy. We haven't seen them put it all together yet.

Herbstreit has always thought highly of LSU!

I see a top five defense, but the verdict on the offense is still out. The sky is not falling and polls this early in the season are generally worthless. Get a few more conference games under our belt and we’ll know exactly what we’ve got.

Smartest man ever.

Simply shows that the guys who know what they are talking about understand that a pedestrian offense can work if your defense holds opponents to 10 points and 50 yards rushing per game.

LSU at best is maybe 4 or 5th ranked because of the defense. I have not really seen a dominant team on both sides of the ball yet? OK, MIAMI, FSU maybe are very good. Until LSU starts putting numbers on the scoreboard they are not a #1 team. OM is coming up and we will know where we are then, because OM can score and run a fast-paced offense and LSU will have to score more than 20 points....

He must not have watched the LSU Offense the last 2 weeks. But thanks for the compliment and endorsement. Hopefully Nuss gets fixed and can get back to his passing game.

I hope he is right. It just doesn’t feel this way.

You can devalue wins for every team if you try hard enough... just how great does the win against Texas at home look for Ohio State now? Who has Penn State beaten?
user avatar
Think of this way. Who can you say is better than us? Ohio State? Their best win is against a middling Texas team, whose QB Uncle Rico had 10 straight incompletions against UTEP? Penn State? They have 3 wins against 3 community colleges. Oregon? ok, they have beaten 2 power 5 teams, a terrible Ok State and mighty Northwestern. UGA? Ok, they beat UT at UT, maybe. Miami? They best win is against an 0-2 team.

I haven't seen an "elite" team this year. For me probably Miami is closest.

But, But, But...wait...the LSU Offense sucks

Well it does and there is no doubt if it doesn’t improve quickly we will lose several games and fall completely out of the playoff picture.

That’s absolutely foolish. Several games?? Tell me you haven’t watched any other team without telling me.

Did you see Michigan a couple of years ago? That offense wasn't great at all and they won the natty through defense

Probably OSU, GA then LsU.

We would lose to Penn State and Ohio State, even being at #3 is generous

based on what? Penn State has played no one, Ohio State would struggle vs our defense.

Based on the fact that the only “Good” team we beat was a highly overrated Clemson team who is now out of the Top 25. Our offense has struggled against every team they’ve played INCLUDING LA Tech. Our defense is STELLAR, but Nussmeier has regressed. This offense is not saving their playbook, or beginning to gel, they are a HOT mess and we will be exposed very soon. Any Top 10 team in the League would STUFF this offense. I was really excited to see a 5th year Nuss carry us to the playoffs and win a Heisman but for whatever reason he has not lived up to the hype.
