Joe Alleva: Out Of Conference Teams Don't Want To Play In Tiger Stadium

While speaking Tuesday morning on 104.5 FM ESPN's Culotta & The Prince radio show, LSU athletic director Joe Alleva said that "Literally 80 percent [of non SEC schools] just say 'no' right away" when they are contacted about playing at Tiger Stadium. Per The Advocate:

"They're a little more open to the so-called neutral-site game. That's why we were able to attract a Wisconsin, a TCU ... BYU in the future...

"Teams don't want to come to Tiger Stadium and get their butts beat. That's just a fact of life. I'm being as blunt as I can be...they don't want to schedule losses."

Until EllisHugh will agree to home and home series most big schools won't agree.

WVU stepped up to the plate, as did Va Tech some years ago. Neuter Dame has also played us in a home-home series before. And then there's the Washington Huskies who were really great as opponents. Yeah, 80% of the teams contacted want no part of it, but 20% are ballsy enough to accept, and I salute them.

BS. TCU/LSU was initially scheduled as a home and away and was moved to a neutral site for money. TCU alumni and fans were not happy with the situation and IIRC TCU AD was also disappointed and said so publically.

LSU refuses to schedule OOC home and home series. There's no fricking way Michigan, USCw, Nebraska, Notre Dame and others of similar stature would decline a home and home.

Yeah, that is why LSU has weak home schedules and why they have to schedule revenue generating neutral site games.

Not really sure why this is an issue... Sure, I would love to see more "big" games per season, instead of the average of 2, but the SEC is tough enough. I am not wanting to have a harder schedule, which would be the outcome if we would bring in those bigger teams he is contacting. I'm ok with it either way and looks like it won't be happening.
