Former LSU safety and current Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jacoby Stevens made a big interception off of quarterback Jalen Hurts during the team's training camp practice on Wednesday.

The interception was tabbed as "The best defensive play of the day" by Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports.

2. The best defensive play of the day came from rookie safety-turned-linebacker JaCoby Stevens, who got some first-team reps as defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon continues the linebacker rotation. The rookie sixth-round pick from LSU dropped into coverage and picked off a ball across the middle. Jalen Hurts never saw him.

As Stevens explained, listening to coaches can pay off:

“The story behind it is at the beginning of camp, Jalen and them, they ran a play action pass and linebacker-wise, we have to bust out to our coverage,” Stevens said. “That’s Linebacker 101, play action play, we have to bust out. In my situation, I was busting out too wide and it opened up a window. Today, JG made the call and they basically ran a play action pass. I basically busted out to the landmark my coaches have been telling me to bust out to the last two weeks and I get an interception.

“For that to happen on a day like this, leading into next week, about to start preseason games and joint practices, it was kind of a relief. It was basically: Coaches know what they’re talking about so listen to them."
