Four-star pass rusher Markaviest "Big Cat" Bryant recently spoke with DawgNation.com and explained why he ended up choosing Auburn over LSU on National Signing Day.

Bryant, who was a silent Georgia commit at one point, ultimately passed on LSU just because of the distance between Baton Rouge and his home state of Georgia.
quote:

If LSU was closer to home, then they’d have the name “Big Cat” Bryant on their website. He said if LSU had been only two hours away from home, then that would have been his choice. “I was inches away from signing with LSU,” he said.
quote:

“I honestly thought I was going to go to LSU,” Bryant said. “I was getting ready to sit down and sign the papers to go with LSU. Then I sat down with my Mom. We talked. When we talked, then I felt real good about Auburn.”
quote:

“LSU couldn’t have done anything better,” Bryant said. “It was great. It was just the distance. Sometimes it is good to branch off but I just felt maybe out of my comfort zone being eight-to-nine hours away at LSU. Don’t get me wrong now because if LSU was just two hours away I would be in purple-and-gold today.”
Bryant also talked about his relationship with LSU pass rusher and Georgia native Arden Key. He even mentioned the women at LSU as one of the reason's why he almost ended up in Baton Rouge.
quote:

He also loved LSU. He said that it was his best college visit. By far. Bryant said he will remember the bond he forged with Georgia pass rush import Arden Key plus another big thing.

“I’m not going to lie about this,” Bryant said. “Just be honest. Those females in Baton Rouge. Oh. my gosh. They have some nice-looking ladies at LSU.”

I can respect that. Everybody doesn't handle distance the same way.

Understood, 7-8 hours makes things hard in a family if they plan on seeing all games

Once he finds out how real this defense is with Aranda and O he will be transfering back to LSU. Airplane tickets are cheap these days and it's only a 1 hour flight so you can say your an hour away big cat!

I have lived in several parts of this country and have to say that I will never have a problem with anyone who wants to be near family...nothing is more important, IMO. I wish him nothing but the best in his career.

It also didn't hurt that his HS coach got a job on Auburn's staff right before NSD...

I obviously respect his decision to stay close to home, but the way he talked about LSU leads me to believe that's a decision he will always question or regret.

That sums up recruiting. A coaching staff can do everything right, and still miss out on a recruit due to circumstances beyond their control. I like the kids honesty. Not sure how his Auburn coaches and teammates will though.

When he says he's seen better looking women walking around LSU's campus, he means it.

This makes no sense to me, does he think he has to move to BR for life? 3-4 years goes by in the blink of an eye. Then he can move right back to mommas titty, frickin pussy

Makes sense to me. No reason to call an 18 yr old a pussy just because he wants to stay closer to home.

That's what college is all about, experiencing new things, we people, new areas, it builds character, hundreds of thousands of kids go to college way further from GA to LA

So Dylan Moses and Chris Allen made good decisions to leave and "experience new things" then?
