LSU's new defensive coordinator Daronte Jones will be signing a two-year deal worth $1.3 million annually plus a one-time payment of $150k, according to multiple reports.

For comparison, former LSU defensive coordinator Bo Pelini signed a three-year deal worth $2.3 million annually last January. He replaced Dave Aranda who was making $2.5 million a year before taking the Baylor job.

Overpaid again, Woody. You hired two completely unproven coordinators, eager to move up the coaching ladder, and gave them top 12 pay in the country. LINK

Zimmer spoke highly of him. Jones and Raymond should be able recruit top secondary prospects.

I don't think Corey Raymond ever need help recruiting top secondary prospects.

A signing bonus has been a concept for decades, it just gets a new name every now and then

2 years? Can't possibly think that highly of the man. They definitely settled in this case and that contract merely confirms that.

You would complain if they paid him big money too so really no winning with some of you.

I like it. Prove yourself and 3rd yr he will be around 2 mil. Damn shame 1.3 mil is seen as not much money-lol!

I have a feeling if he doesnt prove himself this year there wont be a next year for him or O.

What was he making at Minnesota? Then we'll determine how good of a contract it is.

Does it matter? You're not paying him!

Well, if he was making 150k at Minn, what justified such a large number? Dont compare it to Pelini or Aranda, both of ahich had skins on the wall. This guy has none and didnt justify that nunber. Another huge reach and overpay for a second rate coach. The decline is real.

So he makes 1.3 mil a year and his incentive to us winning the sec west is is 10k? Why wouldn’t they have defensive stat related metrics with 100k type of bonuses? Whatever it’s not my money.

Because the only stats a program like LSU cares about is W's and L's.

Agreed seriously underpaid. Pelini got 7mil to not coach the Defense.

Pelini being overpaid does not mean Jones is being underpaid
