Head coach Ed Orgeron has doubled the number of analysts on staff from last season and is spending a combined $595,000 on the 10 analysts, according to Ross Dellenger with The Advocate who was able to obtain documents via a records request with the university.

These analysts are not allowed to work with players on-field in a "coaching role" and do not go on the road recruiting.

The analysts are “at will” employees, meaning they are not under contract. Their salaries were provided to The Advocate by the school via a public records request.

Its ok..English professors do not watch and break down game film, crunch the numbers, or provide analysis to the team. Their chosen profession does not cost them a job if that team loses either. I did however have an English teacher at LSU who was at all the home football games and was a very avid fan and provided commentary in the stands like the rest of us. I don't know many teacher who don't deserve a raise though...Sheesh, I was one...lol

Ask Bama. They have twice as many analysts as we do and have had them for years since NS took over there.

Actually they have had 8-10 for several years and have been way ahead of the curve on this. And Bama isn't the only one. LSU has been late to this party. Miles didn't really utilize them at all. He should have.

Alabama used to have 10. They dropped the number to 8 a couple of years ago.

so...these guys crunch numbers, break down film, gather info for their respective coaches?

Yes. They bring hard numbers each week to the coaches about how many times the opponent runs in each formation/set, which plays out of those sets, etc. And they give it to the coaches at the very beginning of the week so it can go into the gameplan immediately. Their value is really high.

They scout future games weeks in advance. They aren't working on next weeks game this week. That work is already done. They are weeks ahead of each game.
