During the latest episode of his "Always College Football" podcast, host Greg McElroy took a stab at predicting the 12-team College Football Playoff field and the National Champion in 2024.

McElroy has five teams from the SEC making the playoffs, with LSU being one of the teams as the No. 11 seed. Per SDS:
quote:

“I really think the SEC’s depth and the fact that you’re gonna have a bunch of teams with pretty dang good records and resumes is going to have them well positioned.”
Here's his 12-team field:

1. Georgia
2. Ohio State
3. Miami
4. Utah
5. Oregon
6. Texas
7. Alabama
8. Penn State
9. Notre Dame
10. Ole Miss
11. LSU
12. Memphis

As for the National Champion, McElroy is picking the Ohio State Buckeyes to win it all.
quote:

“I’m taking the Ohio State Buckeyes to win the national championship in 2024. They have, I think a super dynamic run game, the defense has a chance to be elite, and I still believe that the offensive line, even though there are question marks, I still think the offensive line is gonna be plenty good enough with Chip Kelly calling the plays and the run game to be able to complement what they want to be on the perimeter with super talented weapons that they have wide receivers. The Ohio State buckeyes over the Georgia Bulldogs for the national title.”

Ohio State has 12 players going in the first to third round of the draft. They don’t win it all and Day will turn to Night.

We are are shell shocked and cautiously optimistic, because of our defensive performance last year. We could not buy a third down stop. If our DB’s and DLine play decently, we may lose one game. TAMU. CBK’s legacy will be tied to wins against BAMA.
I don’t see him losing many to BAMA. Corey Raymond know Florida personnel. They will have difficulty beating us in the swamp.

Im assuming he expects us to be 10-2 with losses to Bama and Ole Miss. Me personally, I'd rather lose to TAMU and Arky/Florida on the road than lose to either Ole Miss or Bama this year.

Considering the Butteyes have one meaningful regular season game and the SEC teams will be beat to hell after a full league season, the Butteyes definitely have a health/injury advantage.

Oregon and Penn St on the road and then Michigan are all meaningful games.

I think that this LSU team is going to surprise the media. We weren't supposed to win the Natty in '19 either! I'm not saying we will this year but I believe a 5 or 6 seed will be there in the end. But we can always hope for Nuss to represent like Lee did after a "Good QB" went of to the league....who knows

So in this scenario, we beat Texas in Austin in a pick em game, follow up with an upset over Ohio State at neutral site, Follow up that with a win over Ole Miss for the second time in same season and we'll be favored in that one and we then meet Georgia for the Championship. I like it lets go

Jeez hearing it laid out like that sounds bruuuttalll. Can we just go back to only having to beat oklahoma for a trip to natty?? Pour one out for the simpler times. Lol. Will be exciting though.

Ohio State could end up in the NC, but they won’t beat the SEC team that was good enough to get there playing against them.

They beat Georgia in 2022, and then their kicker missed a very make-able field goal as time expired to lose it for them. The SEC teams are not as far ahead of everyone else as a lot of you guys think.

Ohio State had an unbelievable transfer class come in to add on to an already stacked roster. The Judkins kid from Ole Miss who did so well against last year is a BACKUP RB over there now. I’m taking Ohio State to win it all.

Notre dame and penn state should not be on there. Miami is losing to florida…shouldn’t be on there either

Miami can lose to Florida and still win the ACC

Notre Dame has hovered around the top 12 for the last eight years. That's a fair add to the playoff prediction.
