Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports
LSU junior safety Grant Delpit was named to the Sporting News 2019 College Football Preseason All-American this week.
quote:

S: Grant Delpit, S, LSU
Delpit is the lone returning first-team defensive selection from last year's All-American team, and there are so many superlatives worth mentioning. He had 74 tackles, five sacks, 9.5 tackles for loss and five interceptions last season. Delpit is more than just numbers, however. He's a team leader and great ambassador for the college game. He will compete for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Jim Thorpe Award this season.

Lol at him competing for the Thorpe. It’s a joke that he didn’t win it last year.

It is a joke... the dude was easily and clearly the best DB in college last year and more than earned the award in his second year. He may get less sacks this year but I see more TO’s via strip and Int for him. He’ll get his sacks too but I just think this years D is more well rounded and they can share the sacks this season. This will finally be the Defense that Aranda has been waiting for. I think he will turn it up a notch this season along with our entire Defense. I think this Defense has the talent and ability to match what 2011 was doing back then. You can argue that this team actually has more. If we can get some of our freshman and RS freshman to give us some quality depth then this will be a special special season. This offense will have the most overall talent that it’s had in a very long time. You add Mr. Joe Burrow to the mix and a young aggressive but purposeful coach calling plays for us then you have a recipe for great success. Man I’m looking forward to what they bring to the field in 2019!!! GT

He will leave LSU with a similar reverance as Devin White.

He’ll be the best pure safety we’ve ever had after it’s all said and done. We’ve had some great ones but I think in raw talent and instincts, he’s the best unless you consider honey badger a safety

You could justifiably put more than half the LSU D on that All-American team.
