John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports
Fox Sports' Stewart Mandel unveiled his early Top 25 for 2016 an pegged LSU at No. 4, behind Alabama, Florida State and Clemson.

Here is what he had to say about the Tigers:
quote:

4. LSU: Junior QB Brandon Harris looked comfortable and avoided mistakes in the Tigers' spring game. His development could make or break an extremely talented team's playoff hopes. New coordinator Dave Aranda's defense is brimming with star power in pass-rusher Arden Key, DT Davon Godchaux, LB Kendell Beckwith and CB Tre'Devious White. And oh yeah, there's that guy Leonard Fournette. He's pretty good.

Expectations are high this year for a lot of SEC teams.

Normally I would say that is way too high and preach to others about tampering expectations, but Les has ZERO excuses and he his only option is to win the NC

Bama 1 yawn. They lose their DC, half of their D, their QB and top RB and most of the O, and they play AT LSU, AT Tenn, AT Ole Miss, and AT Ark.

Bama will be 1 no matter what. As long as Saban is there that is. Just based on history. I don't agree but that is what it is.

@austintexastiger - why shouldn't Bama be #1? We replaced the D coordinator with a great one as well. Half of our D returns and the other half is plug and play with 4 and 5 stars. Our QB sucked right? So now he's being used as a loss for Bama? And we play tough away games every year. It's the SEC.

The official polls won't rank LSU this high. They always hate on us and we have to dig ourselves up. Before the Bama game, we were the best team in the country and we still couldn't sniff #1. The only SEC team that gets love is Bama. It like that every year because the guys that do the voting are northern guys and want to see someone other than the SEC win. I'm glad they changed up the schedules this year. We gone smash Wisconsin, Bama gone smash USC (I hate Bama, but I've always felt they protected USC from the SEC throughout the 90s. No where to run now). All these northern, western, and eastern teams sniffing themselves right now. The SEC about to bring them back down to reality. Anyone remember when Oregon was smelling themselves and faced LSU week one? They got a smooth reality check and put Matthieu in the Heisman race. Same thing this year. I predict big wins throughout the SEC week one. I also think LSU gone give Bama a loss this year. We got the talent, hopes less steps back and allows Cameron and Aranda to open it up!

I do remember when Oregon was smelling themselves. I can't remember why, but they definitely were.

I hope Les. Stupid auto correct...

Bama is better than LSU until LSU proves otherwise.
