Former LSU and current Atlanta Falcons linebacker Deion Jones was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for his performance during September. Per AtlantaFalcons.com:
quote:

Through three games, Atlanta’s second-round pick has recorded 25 total tackles, which ranks first among all rookies in that category. In Week 3, New Orleans native Jones had quite the homecoming at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Monday Night Football, totaling nine tackles (eight solo), one interception and two passes defensed.

Jones and his family were displaced during hurricane Katrina when it hit the city 10 years ago but on Monday night, he lifted Atlanta to a victory over his hometown team with a 90-yard pick six. With the Saints trailing 38-25 and driving, the rookie from LSU intercepted a Drew Brees pass and raced down the sideline to put the Falcons up by 20 with just over a quarter to play. Jones’ pick six was tied for the third longest in franchise history behind Tom Pridemore (101), Chevis Jackson (95), and Ken Reaves (90).

But the Aints can't see any LSU players for 90 miles away. Payton is blind to P&G.

Good for him. Would have looked good in a Saints uniform. But alas, we have Beavis and Butthead making draft decisions.

I'm so happy to see one of Bradley Dale Peveto's proteges do well in the NFL! Let's see... He started a whopping one year for LSU, amirite?? Chavis and Peveto sure knew how to identify LBs that could have helped out LSU's defense back then. I keep looking for Welter on NFL rosters, but he must've disappeared like the 13th floor on a high rise hotel.

The Saints hate LSU players.

One of my all-time favorite LSU players. Always a special teams standout. Waited and waited for his opportunity and had a memorable senior season. Good for him.

I'll never know why it took 30 years to get Debo on the field. Guy was an instant impact player his only starting season, and he flashed on defense as early as a freshman.

He's playing well to decent for a rookie but he's also looked very confused on quite a few plays through 3 games. I know, he's a rookie so maybe I'm setting the bar too high but still, pretty solid 1st month of the season for the rookie.
