Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports
Former LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis, who filled a lawsuit against LSU last week, spoke with Texas A&M media for the first time after practice Thursday.

Chavis was asked about his pending lawsuit with LSU, where he added very little info and also talked about being at Texas A&M.

Here's a sampling of some of Chavis' comments, per the 12thman.com:

Asked about the lawsuit with LSU:
quote:

Current situation has had no effect on coaching. My focus is on coaching football. There’s nothing I can say that will change anything. We feel comfortable with the law firm handling it.
On what appealed to Chavis about Texas A&M:
quote:

What wouldn’t be appealing (about coming to A&M). You look at what’s going on. What’s going on with facilities. This is a university that has invested. Look at stadium. That’s a place you can recruit (to). There’s a wealth of talent in Texas. Why wouldn’t you want to be a part of this program? We are building to win championships, that’s what it’s all about. And I want to be part of a championship program. There’s no question that you can win them at Texas A&M. that’s what we’re looking forward to.
On the Texas A&M fanbase:
quote:

Had some thoughts (about A&M fans) even before (I got here). A lot of good fans throughout the SEC and not going to get into a deal about comparing one group to another. But talking about classy, great people, not seen a classier group of fans than I did in Aggieland. And that’s before, well before, I came here. They made impression on the two trips I came as guy across the field. Great fans, and not able to do things here in terms of facilities if you don’t have great fans.
About the transition from LSU to A&M, and his emotions about leaving Baton Rouge:
quote:

Always hard to leave place. Love those kids at LSU. Came a time where have to make decision and do what’s best for you. Coached for 38 years and to be honest haven’t always made decisions based solely on what’s best for me. Great opportunity here I couldn’t turn down. Great situation. One where hope I can finish my career. Could get 8 or 10 good years here, if I could go that long, would be great. You get tied to kids. Love Coach Miles too, great to work for and have great relationship. Always will have a great relationship. Was tough leaving those kids. But have great group of kids here we’re learning to trust each other. They have to trust me and I have to trust them. That happens over time. Texas A&M feels like home.

How unprofessional talking to Aggies right before the kick off of LSU's bowl game. This guy has no integrity, morals and seriously lacks professionalism doing that to our program. I have a feeling he will get what is coming to him and the only reason he left was more $$$$. Go to hell chief!!

Glad he feels like he did what was best for him. Not glad, and don't respect him, for the way he finished things out with LSU. Clearly was checked out in his last game, and that's pretty unfair to these kids that he supposedly "loves".

He handled his departure as bad as he possibly could. Showed no respect to the players, coaches or fans. Add in his stupid lawsuit, this a-hole doesn't deserve any respect or gratitude from the LSU fan base.

8-10 more years?!? His D is going to get roasted without the superior talent he was privy to here. He will be canned after his second season at the bottom of the SEC.

Had a lot of respect for him, and all of that respect was lost by the way he handled this. Hope we continue the winning streak vs. A&M, hustle his arse into retirement and his boss into a job search.

Thanks for the great years Chief, but I don't think I'm alone in saying I lost a lot of respect for you when you obviously mailed in your last game for LSU.
