ESPN writer Sam Khan Jr. released SEC preseason power rankings on Monday and he ranked LSU at No. 7.

Auburn landed at No. 1, just ahead of Georgia and Alabama.

Power Rankings:

1. Auburn
2. Georgia
3. Alabama
4. Ole Miss
5. Arkansas
6. Tennessee
7. LSU
8. Mississippi State
9. Missouri
10. Texas A&M
11. South Carolina
12. Florida
13. Kentucky
14. Vanderbilt

Here is what the had to say about LSU:
quote:

7. LSU: If the Tigers solve their quarterback quandary, they could contend in the SEC West and maybe even for a College Football Playoff spot. With the core of a strong defense and star running back Leonard Fournette returning, the rest of the roster looks that good. If Anthony Jennings or Brandon Harris can’t turn LSU’s passing game into more of a threat, LSU could wind up in the middle of the pack again this fall.

Awful ranking. LSU should be no lower than 5th. We beat Ole Miss, actually return QBs with experience, have a top defense, loaded WR corps and great OL. Oh, and we actually have a run game.

Tennessee shouldn't be ahead of us either, although I see them finishing 9-3.

Auburn is in for a rude awakening. The hype only gets larger as the season draws near.

First fair ranking of them. They are a 20 to 25 preseason rank, not an actual contender. Get ready for the 2nd worse lsu passing game in recent history, with last year being number 1.
