Gus Stark / LSU Athletics
With just one more day left in the early signing period, LSU will likely wrap up with 19 signees and only one offensive lineman signee heading into National Signing Day in February.

During his radio show on Wednesday, Ed Orgeron said that the coaching staff will target offensive linemen to fill some of the remaining spots in the class and that they have some silent commits that will sign in February.

On Thursday, Orgeron talked about the current offensive linemen on LSU's roster that he is already recruiting to come back next season...

Idk about the shrimp poboy’s (which is a stupid comment) but it’s not next year we need to be concerned with, it’s the year after that! We can’t start a bunch of freshman lineman. We need to start putting some moves on some lineman. Even if we have to do the Les Miles move and recruit athletic guards. Shoot go get some TEs and bring them some of that damn gumbo. With those gens they’ll be athletic OTs in a year or two. That’s when we’ll need them. They have guys out there that aren’t on the radar. We have to be looking overtime at film and start projecting smaller guys with the right athletic build and length to cross train them. The northern schools do this with ease it seams. Stop looking at the top tier at some point and start looking deeper. Genetic history, parents, siblings, uncles, and grandparents. Grab 3-4 that are 6’5 230 TEs or DEs but aren’t being recruited at that position and tell those boys to come develop under this coach and make your family rich while playing on National TV every week with a chance to win a ship and beat Bama regularly. Looks like we got the QB situation under control. We have a great group of LBs coming, we have a good group of DL with depth, it’s all in for some OLman!!! Go flip or go find 3 or 4 TEs or DEs who have the length and athleticism and put those boys on some crawfish/rice/steak/burger/potato’s, get some shakes in them and leave those boys in the gym. Make em flip tires all day and push cars at night in that 100 degree weather. They’ll thank you for it later. If you can’t beat em at their own game, start your own damn game. Have a team just for OL build. This is LSU, we got the money honey. There are still some players out there that no one knows yet. Gotta get on those phones and on that World Wide Web. When those guys develop, the big stars will start to notice. Can’t always start at the top. Sometimes you have to convince people.

Which schools from the north are winning national championships by recruiting 230lb TE to play offensive line against 300 lb DLines?

Tackles are a rare breed! TEs are too small. And on the OL, you build from the outside in! Not inside out!
