During the SEC Coaches Teleconference on Wednesday, Ed Orgeron doubled down on his comments from earlier the week when he said that LSU was the better team last Saturday vs. Alabama.

Orgeron also added that he thought the Crimson Tide 'were not as good as they were in the past.' Per SDS:
quote:

“I felt we were a better team than them,” Orgeron said on the SEC coaches media teleconference on Wednesday. “I don’t know if they were expecting us to be that good. … I don’t know if they played to their peak performance or not, but I felt we matched up pretty good. … I can’t judge how good they are. They aren’t as good as they were in the past. They might be the best team in the country, I don’t know. But they weren’t that night.”

“You’ve gotta put this one game, this was LSU-Alabama, it was a rivalry. We were hearing they were going to crush us, we didn’t have a chance. We went in guns blazing. … We were ready. One of those nights we were in the zone. That’s all that was.”

That's why he was fired. Complete knucklehead

Pretty sure everyone knows they are beatable, especially given that they have lost a game this season already. Beatable, but obviously not by LSU. In all seriousness, everyone knows Alabama played down and is clearly a superior team to LSU and it’s not remotely close. The fact that LSU caught them slacking doesn’t change that at all

This motherfricker knows he lost right?

Yea, lost with a decent chance to win on a game that we were nearly 30 point underdogs. Watch the film, we were absolutely the better team that night. Not perfect, made some mistakes, missed a couple plays, but O ain't wrong here.

Vegas odds are for bettors and have no relevance to assessment of team strength. They lost and a coach with any self-respect NEVER resorts to diminishing the skill of an opponent who beat them, no matter the score. Another example of this person not knowing how to conduct himself.

Agree with O. DB's not good in coverage, not your typical Bama defense, some weapons on offense, good team but not what we are used to seeing.

Still talking about Alabama on Wednesday of the Arkansas game

Too frickin thick to realize that an insult to them is an insult to us. A down year for Bama is still beating us and having one loss. Still a roster of 5 stars fresh off a Natty with a freshman qb. Lessons on how not to let the bottom fall out of ur program 1 or 2 years after winning it all. He learned nothing.

This is brilliant commentary about a team that went undefeated last year. It is pretty hard to go anywhere but down.

They are not as good as usual, but still better than all but 1 or 2 teams. I am hopeful this Bill O'Brien hire begins to crack, which I think it is beginning to. They seem soft, which is very unusual. Like I said, still better than but 1 or 2 teams, but maybe some chinks in the armor are starting.

I just don't understand why Woodward didn't muzzle him when they fired him. He cant go away soon enough.

It should be unacceptable to lose to an uncharacteristically weak Bama team, yet here we are talking about moral victories with O

And yet, we still lose the game. Talk like this is absolute garbage and just makes him look somehow worse

Ain't as good as they used to be...says the coach who's about to lead us to back to back losing seasons for the first time since Dinardo

I think he meant on defense since LSU snapped Bama's NCAA-record streak of consecutive 31+ point games and held them to their lowest rushing total in Bama history there.
