During his radio show on Wednesday night, head coach Ed Orgeron made it clear that he wants to recruit pro-style quarterbacks in the future. Per The Advocate:
quote:

Pro-style QB recruiting: Asked about LSU’s perceived inability to recruit or develop quarterbacks under Les Miles, Orgeron made clear that he plans to recruit pro-style quarterbacks and prefers to recruit pro-style quarterbacks from Louisiana. LSU signed 17 quarterback in Miles’ 12-year tenure – nine pro-style quarterbacks and eight dual-threat quarterbacks. “I want a pro-style quarterback,” Orgeron said. “Louisiana has been rich in quarterbacks and pro-style quarterbacks. … We’re going to go anywhere in the country that we need to get them, but we’re going to look at Louisiana first.”

O has mastered listening to the fans and telling us what we want to hear. IMO, dual threat or pro style doesn't matter...he needs to recruit the best QBs he can get and build a suitable team around them.

Wrong. That's the problem. Have a clear plan....and execute it with system guys. Time to quit tailoring to talent. Hasn't worked

Well yes it matters. If you get QB who actually can complete a damn pass when he needs to, it matters.

Couldn't disagree more. That's been the problem. Need to go out and find the best guy to fit your scheme. Quit trying to recruit these spread guys who never play under center in high school and then bring them to handoff the ball the 50 times again from under center.

He talks like he plans on being around for a while. I like it.

1. Ed O is handling the team as if he is an will be the "coach". 2. He wants the Tiger Fans to get behind him so he is telling the Tiger fans what the team will look like under his watch if he gets the Head Coach job. He is building momentum so that if he wins down the stretch he will show he can win and have public pressure for him to stay. 3. One of my knocks on Les Miles has always been that he had several quarterbacks with different skill sets and tried to force them into offenses that did not suit there talents. Jarrett Lee running an option. Trying to make a drop back passer out of others who were better at run first. It is certainly best to decide on a scheme and recruit to that scheme. 4. We need to bring in less wide receivers and safeties and more DL. In some cases I think Les took players at these positions simply to build up a class ranking, keep them away from other teams or other reasons. But then they sat the bench and took up scholarships while other positions such as DL and LB's were very thin.

I get it. But he's not the permanent HC yet. Gotta use more savvy for recruiting purposes. He doesn't know what the new guy will want. Don't want to run guys off if you might not even have the job permanently.

Coach O has long been a propenent of a pro style offense. His time at Miami & USC still heavily influences him.

Rude awakening. Bama and Ole Miss spread O is going to slap us right in the face.

The Rude awakening will be the brick wall that Bama's offense will hit on the 50 yard line in the Valley. Bring that crap to DBU. The defense is just getting started with Aranda.

O remembers the glory days of USC when he was there and all the NFL type quarterbacks they had...I really think he's going to make LSU hire him because the fans will love him so much.

Keep holding on to the glory days. See where that will get you. The junk yard exists for a reason.

My favorite thing about Coach O is you never have to guess his feelings on a subject.

One of the best Pro-Style QB's in the Country is right down road about 2 hours East and he's already committed to LSU. Make him a Priority to not let get away a la Feleipe Franks................

What makes him pro style, he's never under center?

Would prefer a dual threat in an open offense to make plays when breakdowns occur. I don't see the need for him to announce this as it doesnt benefit us. We better recruit/develop more on the OLine if this is the plan. Immobile quarterbacks with only an average line doesnt sound good to me. Also, seems to me that Louisiana produces more dual threats than prostyle. Prostyle is becoming nonexistent so good luck.

Pro Style doesn't always mean not mobile. Look at Danny Etling. He looks like he has more escapability than dual-threat Brandon Harris.

As to the future HC. Though I like CEO, I'm not sold after one game. Additionally, I'm interested in getting a guy who can give us a modern offense. Mizzou is a game that dictated that we run with their weaker DL. Let hold off till you see how we adjust vs stronger opponents.

I think Brennan will flourish under Coach O. Coach O, if he gets the job, will totally revamp the offense in the off-season and recruit guys to fit his scheme. I think Brennan will have an offense that caters to his strengths, unlike our current offense that does not play to anyone's strengths. I really hate that pitch off tackle run play. I cringe every time I see it.

As much as I hate to say this, I do not think CEO will get the job under any circumstance. His name is not big enough. I hate it, but it is true.

I'm getting to the point where if we don't make him the HC for at least a season or two, I will be very disappointed. The man is good for business down here.
