During the third quarter of the LSU-Alabama game, sideline reporter Jamie Erdahl said on the CBS broadcast that cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. went up to coach Ed Orgeron to have a talk about him guarding Devonta Smith more.

After the game, Orgeron was asked about that conversation and why Stingley Jr. wasn't on Smith earlier in the game.

That’s total BS. You find a way. This coaching staff has lost it.

What? It was difficult to see a guy move around with an 18 inch "6" on his chest??? Put #24 on #6 and just sort the rest out. Good God, Coach O. How stupid do you think we are?

He’s used to dealing with 18 year olds and coonasses... he’ll make a great politician.

They rushed four down lineman all night long. Even after an embarrassing 1st quarter Bo kept doing the exact same thing. Good lord what a joke. This guy can not coach against the modern offenses. He is a has been that doesn’t understand today’s concepts. Horrible hire and horrible contract!

Thank you. I have been screaming about this. Just like last game he kept rushing 3 down linemen to the right of the center on every 3rd down The guy is a joke of a coach. We need an elite d coordinator like mike elko

It's a testament to how bad our defensive planning is if we can't prepare to have our #1 DB cover their #1 WR 100% of the time.

This staff sounds incredibly incompetent

Well they’ve simplified the defense as much as possible because the players weren’t getting it. I’m sure that prevented Stingly from covering Smith more. There was really nothing we could do tonight. We’ve got to get rid of Pellini.

You're telling me no pelini's defense is more complicated that dave fookin Aranda's. That's bullshite. Maybe pelini just cant coach

In other words, not only is our defenses be scheme ineffective and clearly confusing at hell, it doesn’t even allow for one guy to stay to simply line up in front of another guy. Unreal. Can I make millions for being terrible at my job?

LSU has played like this for a long time. Stingley didn't follow receivers around last year, and neither did Fulton. Each corner played a side of the field. Alabama was moving Smith around to line up against Flott. They did the same thing to Stingley last year. Teams that don't have incompetent offensive coaches do that. That's what LSU did a lot last year. Remember Jefferson playing one on one in the slot with a safety last year against Oklahoma to the tune of 4 touchdowns in the first half? It happens. Rather than complaining about a CB following Alabama's best receiver around (which hardly happens in college football, and even some of the best in the NFL don't do it, ahem, Stephen Gilmore) people should be complaining about how poor Cordale Flott has been this season. It looked like I could've beat him running verticals last night. Just horrible, horrible play.

Take some of this back. Bellichck made a career of the philosophy of taking the offense’s best player out of the game and make them beat you another way. Should have taken a 3rd sting CB at the lime with Smith just to jam him off the line every play. Then have Sting 1 on 1 with safety help. Bama still wins but you take a couple of scores off the board by preventing the big play. LSU made it too easy.

When a college defense doesn’t have the “know how” to keep one DB locked on one WR, you know you have huge problems. O and Bo have destroyed a once proud LSU tradition.

Wouldn’t have helped. Smitty beat Stingley like a drum too
