Ed Orgeron and LSU have reportedly agreed to a six-year contract worth more than $42 million, according to Bruce Feldman with Fox Sports/The Athletic. The new deal was later confirmed by LSU:
quote:

The new six-year agreement includes a base annual salary of $6 million. In addition, Coach O will receive a $5 million split-dollar life insurance policy payable over the first two years of the agreement. In total, the agreement is worth more than $42 million, before bonuses.

The agreement is pending approval of the LSU Board of Supervisors.

"Coach O has set a new standard at LSU," said LSU Athletic Director Scott Woodward. "He has proven that he is not only a championship coach, but also a leader of a program committed to doing things the right way. He has represented our institution and our state with great pride, on and off the field of play. He is well-deserving of this new contract, which should make clear our commitment to Coach O and the direction of our football program."
Last March, Orgeron signed a two-year, $4 million contract extension that made him the 24th highest-paid coach in College Football. His new deal makes him the 5th highest-paid coach in the country.

Just an FYI.....LSU went 15-0...smashed most offensive records for the SEC as well as the NCAA...he recruited a QB who came in and won the Heisman...and won a National Championship....we definitely should have gone in cheap with the new offer. [eye roll]

What people don’t realize is the boost to the Louisiana economy winning a national .

There is also a huge economic benefit to LSU and the athletic department that having a player winning the Heisman Trophy brings. When you combine the economic boom from winning the CFP with a Heisman Trophy winning player with the visibility of that Joe Burrow had this season, the economics are out of the roof.

Well deserved Coach O and yes he should have won over the naysayers on this board by now, but again we got some idiots that are never satisfied. Keep it going Coach O for Louisiana.

Remember folks, Alleva deserves credit for this title more than Woodward who sent A&M back a decade.

He does deserve some credit for the hire, but he also deserved to be sent packing. Hiring and firing of coaches is such a small part of what the AD does. Alleva failed miserably when it came to highly publicized issues (Les Miles 2015, Florida hurricane game and most of all, Will Wade suspension).
