English as a second language? No. This is BS. He may be a great player but this poor attempt at justification and bad syntax and grammar tell me that this individual has no business taking up a seat in a college class. (How TF did we get to the point of putting people in college that can't pass a remedial restroom class?)

It's amazing now people like you are so dumb that they think they aren't aware of their grammar. It's the Internet grandpa, people are just there to convey a message. Many people skip commas or just write quickly without proofreading. He had to pass English classes, he knows how to write.

English is my wife’s fourth (of six) language, and she writes (in English) far better than that. In fact, probably better than most message board posters. I’m all for giving a chance to kids from poor educational backgrounds, but after spending a year in college, this is unacceptable and shouldn’t be happening. A lot of us would have failed classes if we turned in essays or term papers written like that. P.R. 101 should be a mandatory first year course for scholarship athletes. Twitter pretty much forces the school to ensure that all players know what to and what not to say on social media, as well as how to say it when it’s appropriate to comment.

I can forgive punctuation - hey it's social media. Didn't like "University of Louisiana organization" though. I don't know the details of the arrest and without knowing if he has a history of these things, I'll wait and see how this plays out. Trusting Coach O.

So he says his only crime is trusting someone and being a friend to someone bad what does the da say but is it also all ok because coach o has been spoken to and those who need to know the truth know it so it will no longer be spoken of cause it is personal.

You guys are ridiculous. Like any of you are English majors. He’s rambling on social media. Who cares how many periods there are? Bottom line is that he is taking responsibility. Kudos to you for not running away.

Except he did run away....from the police. And then got caught. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time is something someone truly innocent says...NOT someone that ran and got caught illegally possessing a concealed weapon.

Nah. Poor spelling, grammar and punctuation destroys all credibility instantly. If he’s going to comment, he needs to make it read like he’s a high school graduate and college student. Again, all scholarship athletes should take PR 101 their first semester on campus.

This was not a “mistake “. It was a deliberate and calculated crime. Selling drugs with a gun in your pocket? Doesn’t just happens d I doubt he got arrested the very first time he ever did anything wrong. His “apology” is defensive and aggressive. Not a lot of remorse or responsible shown either. In short, bad actor; time for him to go pursue other options.

the right to keep and BEAR arms shall not be infringed

@arcalades - nobody is infringing his right to bear a firearm legally...as in open carrying, not concealing it.

Agreed. LSU does not need to become known for harboring punk criminals just because of their athletic abilities. Being fast and elusive is great, unless you learned how to do it by running from the police after you had committed a crime.

Just stop with all the English bullshite comments please! Take care of your situation and learn from your mistakes Donte. It sounds like you are doing that and see you back on the field! One Team One Heart Beat!

Not gonna stop with the comments on his English. The kid is supposed to be ready for college. Hell, he couldn't pass a first year Sesame Street class. Do y'all understand that college is for those students who are intelligent, learned, and ready to learn? If your only skill is football, and youcan't even speak your native language properly, then what the **** are you doing taking up a scholarship that could be used for someone with a functioning brain?

I hope he is allowed to take many, many, many English classes. Conjunction freaking junction.

He should probably talk with his lawyer regarding lengthy social media posts about his arrest. “Anything you say can and will be used against you...”

I think that it bears mentioning that this is an example of the literary journey of a college student athlete in the year 2020. I personally think it’s become an almost accepted form of child abuse by both parents and educators alike that will hold these young people back in life, and will put them at a real disadvantage going forward in the real world when nobody cares about their athletic abilities any longer.

There is no such thing as a student-athlete any more. If you're a good athlete you get a pass. You're admitted to the university with lower scores than are required for others. Listen to most of these "student-athletes" when they speak. They can't put two coherent sentences together. It's an embarrassment to our state, to our educational system, and to humanity that we allow this into our collegiate educational system. No wonder people are making fun of us. Our football teams in the south are great, but the players are idiot savants. They can play ball, but can't even spell their own damned names.
