New LSU Football coach Brian Kelly arrived in Baton Rouge Tuesday afternoon and will be formally introduced on Wednesday at noon.

Kelly's new 10-year contract will start at $9 million in the first year and increase over time up to $10 million, plus incentives by the end of the deal in 2031.

He will receive a:
-$500,000 annual longevity bonus paid every July.
-$500,000 bonus for being bowl eligible.
-$500,000 bonus if he wins a National Championship. (If he wins a national title, his salary increases by $500,000 each year for each title he wins.)

His buyout is $2 million after the second season.

The money they discuss is all relative. Hiring Mulkey has already paid off in season ticket sales and my guess is T stadium will fill back up"… Anyone notice ND AD didn’t seem bothered so must be issues with admin there. They said Kelley didn’t even ask them to match

For those wondering, private jet rates go from $2000-$3000 an hour (including dead head flights) that’s another 100-150K a year

It's a lot. But it's not 15 mil/year like some were saying. Still a lot...

I love how a guy making 9 million dollars a year gets a vehicle allowance. I think he'll be able to buy that benz outright.

So basically, if we wins a national championship, his salary becomes 100% guaranteed no matter what happens to him after that. Talk about motivation.

Does he get to use Les Miles old condo to bring coeds back to?

Scott Woodward makes the expectations, goals, and rewards very clear. This is about winning national championships. I wonder how many of the other extensions and new contracts in the past few months have had such bare and clear goals built in. I know there are reward clauses everywhere, but this seems very pointed. Kelly is going to win, get rewarded for it, and we as fans are going to love it!

$2 million buyout after the second year is pretty cheap. I guess BK wanted away to get out on the cheap if he didn't like LSU and another University was chasing him.
