Derrius Guice Is The Fastest LSU RB To Reach 1,000 Yards

LSU sophomore running back Derrius Guice is the fastest back in school history to reach 1,000 yards. He reached the 1,000-yard mark in just 113 carries.

The previous fastest at LSU was running back Charles Scott, who reached 1,000 yards on his 136th career rushing attempt in 2008 vs. Mississippi State.

Guice also leads the nation this season with 9.1 yards per carry.

Lets just chalk it up to you being a victim of the "moment", I cant believe that you really think Guice is better than LF7, you must have short term memory issues if you do and since LF7 hasnt played recently you have forgotten his greatness. I would also take issue with Bucktail1 and Mouche337 - Guice is an outstanding RB but he needs to maintain this type of output thru an entire SEC schedule before you can say hes better than LF7, Chubb, McCaffery etc. If he puts up these type numbers next year when hes the starter then everyone will crown him as the best RB in NCAA but he hasnt had to endure 20+ carries for 8-10 games against SEC defenses yet so the brakes need a little pumping chief.

Yes, he did face easier talent, but still great. He is aided now by a more unpredictable offensive scheme with defenders no longer bunched at the line of scrimmage as they were in the Les offense days.

I said this last year that Guice is better in some aspects of the RB position then LF is. It's the truth.. LF is def better all around back but Guice is better in key areas like cut back ability or speed, shiftiness, and he accelerates faster than LF. LF could run harder and be a better back imo. He could play with a little more smarts and effort. He's great don't get me wrong but I just think he could be even better and then Guice couldn't touch him.

Guice is a great back, no doubt. But to say he's better than LF7 is foolish. Guice is in a offense that's is no longer predictable. So he's not seeing 9 in the box like Fournette sees every time he steps on the field. And the two teams we have faced aren't exactly "Elite". He is the second best RB in the SEC no question. But Fournette, when healthy, is the best running back in the country. We are blessed to have them both suiting up in Purple and Gold.

I love to watch him run. He never really stops making an attempt to gain yardage. IDK about better than LF, but he certainly has imagination. If he can see even a minute chance of staying on his feet, he will attempt whatever move or body contortion that pops into his head to make it happen. Almost like the way Juice and OBJ see a bad pass and do something crazy to attempt the catch. It's beautiful.

8.89 ypc avg career in NCAA SEC football. Wonderful backfield! 1A: LF7, 1B: DG5 and still have Williams 1C. Hopefully CEO plans on using LF & DG like Pete did at USCw with Bush & White, 3-4 WRs running go routes. Making the D run all game.

@burke985 LF7 has that speed @ 100% that makes his game so great. He was slower early in the season with the ankle injuries. We will see Saturday if he has that speed back bc he needs it to make his game the great game that it is. However, DG5 under Coach E & Coach O will be used more and will take the pressure off LF7. Didn't Mauck have a high ankle sprain in the Florida game 2002 and didn't come back all season?
