Clemson coach Dabo Swinney spoke with reporters Tuesday and shot down any speculation about him being a candidate for the LSU job. Per ESPN:
quote:

"This is the only Death Valley I'm concerned with right here," Swinney said, referring to the stadiums in Clemson and Baton Rouge, which are both nicknamed "Death Valley."

Swinney has been speculated to be a possible candidate to replace Ed Orgeron since LSU agreed to part ways with its coach after this season -- just two years after winning the national title.

"I don't know the situation [with Orgeron at LSU]," Swinney said when asked about the pressure to win immediately and consistently, "but I do know some of the greatest coaches we've ever had weren't good early or maybe the consistency wasn't there. It's a tough business."

That doesn't really sound like a definite statement from dabo

So are we gonna see the response from every college football coach out there?

I honestly don’t mind. Each reach out is an implicit and public statement cementing that people regard LSU as a step up to their present position.

@Volvagia I'm sure you meant a step up 'from' their present position?

"honestly don’t mind. Each reach out is an implicit and public statement cementing that people regard LSU as a step up to their present position." They all say the same thing. Just like Saban did when he came here, went to the NFL, and when he went to Bama. Just like Jumbo did when he went to A&M, and so on and so on....

I've said all along there's no way Dabo comes to Bama. So he damn sure ain't coming to LSU. He's built something at Clemson, has an easier path there, and has a lot of good will.

Are we gonna be seeing this pointless, speculative shite for the rest of the season? These coaches aren’t going to publicly express their interest one way or another in the middle of the football season. Make it stop.

Yep. It's going to keep getting more and more ridiculous over the next 2 months.

Knowing what a phony Dabo is, that means he’s very interested in the LSU job.

Frick Dabo, he’s waiting on Saban to retire from Bama. Then he will truly be home if they want him. LSU does not need Dabo, we can do much better. Clemson is a small pond with an even smaller fish. I believe the species is called a Dabo. Geaux fighting tigers

Dabo or not, LSU has lost some good potential candidates in the past because certain people in the media couldn't keep their mouth shut. Just keep talking about Mel Tucker until Scott lets us know something.
