Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports
Last week, Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports suggested that Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher is Scott Woodward's top target to be LSU's next head coach.

This week it's National College Football reporter Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports who agrees that Fisher is at the top of Woodward's wish list.

Thamel thinks that "LSU job is the most attractive on the market," and if it is not Fisher, Woodward could target James Franklin, Luke Fickell, Dave Aranda, Lane Kiffin or Mel Tucker.
quote:

The LSU job is the most attractive on the market. And that’s not expected to change, regardless of any other movement. Until another coach is walked to the podium at the news conference by athletic director Scott Woodward, it’s safe to project Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher as the target here. That’s always been Woodward’s dream candidate, and his history of paying historic amounts for Fisher is the best empirical evidence of that desire. Who from there? The names are all familiar – James Franklin, Luke Fickell, Dave Aranda, Lane Kiffin and Mel Tucker. If it’s not Fisher, the name will be big and the price tag expensive. Expect the LSU-Texas A&M game to end the season in Baton Rouge to be a quintessential SEC spectacle.

Would be a huge let down if true. Still an upgrade over O but a letdown for sure.

Let the melt down begin. My Thoughts are he is better than Les and O put together and they both won NC. So he could win at least 2 here

A&M got off to a slow start with injuries and have done nothing but improve as the season goes along. The QB has improved greatly. Can't say that about Max.

Jimbo Fisher is not worth any more than what Aggie is paying him, please let this not be true

Do we really care what Yahoo Sports thinks?

So with Woodward’s track record you should take the bet against Jimbo and you’ll win big.

What is Woodward's track record on football hires? Jimbo at aTm? Bo for DC at LSU and the haul of assistants he "oversaw" the hiring of this last season. If Woodward's track record is your saving grace, you might look elsewhere.

Jimbo is such old news, I'd rather take a chance on Napier and have it not work out

Thamel has no inside info, just repeating what other talking heads are saying. Having said that I heard that after half time of the LSU A&M game Jimbo is going to walk across the field and coach LSU. And Muschamp is going to show up and coach the defense.

The viewing numbers from the Bama game are just another indication of why the LSU job is up towards the top of the list regardless of what schools have openings any given year. The fact that people were still willing to tune in and watch a struggling team(the last 2 seasons)that was a 28pt dog, playing one of, if not the top program in the country says something. Hell, I don’t even care if some tuned in just bc the game was tight, they still tuned in and thought LSU had a chance.

No Lincoln Riley mention? Personally, I’d take Riley any day of the week over Fisher.

Problem is Riley has a 25 million buy out, Jimbo does not.

Wait. Would you be happy if Jimbo Fisher hired LSU? WTF does that mean? I would be amazed! That means Ole Jimbo has enough money and can retire and he won't be our coach.

It will not be Jimbo.

Not a big fan of Jimbo. Would much rather see Riley, Fickell, Aranda, or even Napier. Absolute no to Franklin or Kiffin. Not sure about Tucker.
