CBS Releases Updated College Football Bowl Projections

Jerry Palm with CBS Sports updated his College Football Bowl Projections this week.

As of now, Palm has LSU playing Clemson in the ReliaQuest Bowl on January 1 in Tampa, Fla., at 11 a.m. CT.

The ReliaQuest Bowl is formerly the Outback Bowl.

LSU last played in the Outback Bowl in 2014, beating Iowa 21-14. Former running back Jeremy Hill was the MVP of the game after rushing for 216 yards and two touchdowns.

I don't think there will be much interest from the LSU fanbase for returning to Central Florida for a bowl game two years in a row, particularly when we opened the season there.

I'm not sure we are in a position to presently come off so high and mighty. An 8-4 LSU team may not get such a lofty invite.

Please explain to me the logic behind the PAC12/Big12 tie-in to the Independence Bowl. That's just makes no sense.

I think Independence Bowl had a tough time finding an SEC team to come in and play. It was like the team that finished 8 or 9. However you would have several top tier teams go on to bigger bowls and that would leave a not so great SEC team playing a lower team like. Vanderbilt vs. NC State. Or you would get matchups like Duke vs. Temple that would not have regional appeal. It's all about the dollars and securing a major sponsor. Signing a contract like Pac12/Big 12 matchup helps with that and tv ratings, Now Pac 12 looks gone the Independence Bowl will probably revisit
