On Monday, head coach Brian Kelly was asked about Harold Perkins, who moved into more of a strongside linebacker position vs. South Carolina last week.

Overall, Kelly was happy with the progress and play of Perkins:

"We're asking him to fit in the box a little bit more than he did last year," Kelly said. "He was strictly an edge player last year."

"But I thought there were some good things to build on. I thought he started to feel a lot more comfortable. He was in the action a lot more. There is growth there. I know he felt better and more comfortable."

"I think he would like to have a couple of plays back, maybe the first tackle of the game; he had a chance for a safety."

"He started feeling much more comfortable and playing with great energy. At first glance, we feel like we made some progress."
