During his post-practice press conference on Thursday, head coach Brian Kelly was asked about the future 12-team playoff coming next season.

Kelly, who has always been in favor of the expanded playoff, said he expects LSU to be in the playoffs picture going forward. Per On3:
quote:

“We expect to be there. That’s why we’re here at LSU, you know, to be part of championship play and postseason play, if you will,” Brian Kelly said. “I’m a fan of 12 teams. I always have been. I started my career in Division II where we had 16, now it’s 32. It’s exciting.

“I mean, you know, whether you’re on campus or hosting or you’re not, I just think it’s going to be great for college football. You know, who knows, right now, if we’re in this position, I think we’re 15th, maybe we get a little help and we slide in. So that would make it exciting for everybody in college football that the top 15-16 teams are still fighting for an opportunity for postseason.”

There are some coaches who are against the playoff expanding, but it’s clear that Kelly is not one of them.

For now, his focus is on helping LSU finish out this season strong, before trying to lead the Tigers to the 12-team playoff next year.

“I think this is going to be exciting,” Kelly said. “We still have some work to do this year. Our goal is obviously… everybody remembers how you finish. And for us, it’s about finishing strong and finish the season strong, and that’s what our focus is right now.”

Hopefully they stop scheduling big games to start the season. It’s fun to watch, but what’s the point, if you win great, no one cares. If you lose it’s held against you. Why make things potentially harder than they need to be.

The offense will take a sharp step down, so the defense will have to have a MASSIVE turnaround for this to happen.

lsu has enough talent on defense to be above average to good on that side of the ball. will be interesting to see who they get at dc. no way to replace daniels, but that oline is really good and will be next year. nuss will be solid at the least.
