Brian Kelly Comments On Harold Perkins' Performance vs. USC

During his press conference on Tuesday, LSU head coach Brian Kelly was asked about linebacker Harold Perkins and his play in the season opener vs. USC.

Kelly said he likes having Perkins in the middle of LSU's defense and expects him to make a significant jump next week.

"I like him where he is. I like him inside the core of our defense," Kelly said.

"What Blake (Baker) talked to him about is that we need to get him to narrow his focus a little more. He has a tendency that he wants to do a little too much. He's so eager to want to make plays because we have put him in that playmaker position so much. When you work in the areas that he works, your focus has to narrow down a lot more."

"The team's biggest improvements are made from week 1 to week 2. You are going to see a huge improvement. Now that he has played in the box, in a game, and we can get his focus narrowed and get his eyes where they need to be, once we get that, it's going to be a different look and will help him immensely."

I think HP needs to be used more like a Von Miller type player. During his freshmen year we just let him play and Boom! I don't think he's a good fit a MLB. It requires a ton of responsibility, Kelly evens says in the article that he needs to narrow his focus. I'd put him on the edge and let him be GREAT. with all his athleticism he's a liability in pass coverage.

Ryan, Burns and whoever was the person to cover the TE all need to be on scout team...they obviously need more practice and dont need to be taking reps from the guys who should be starting.

Leave Weeks in and take Burns out or move Sage Ryan to Burns spot. This is the only thing that pisses me off with BK.
