Class of 2019 high school quarterback John Gordon McKernan from University High in Baton Rouge will walk on at LSU, according to Geaux 247.
quote:

"It’s one of those things where you grow up as a die hard Tiger fan," McKernan told 247Sports. "Growing up as a kid I always dreamed of running out on the field in Tiger Stadium, but I never thought it would turn into a reality. So I am thrilled to start my journey and try to do whatever I can to contribute to the team. Keep my head down and work my butt off."

The three-star quarterback on the industry-generated 247Sports Composite was 27-1 as a starter for the Cubs, en route to multiple state championships as he played on the nationally ranked team. McKernan ranks as the No. 78 overall pro-styler quarterback in the country.

I can't wait to see the new commercial with this detail in it. "JG loves his tigers but not as much as his family and that's why I should be your lawyer"

If Ed O told 18yo Purple Spoon that for no additional cost or tuition I could lift, practice, travel, have access to team facilities, academic, training and personnel resources and generally be an LSU tiger for 4 years while going to school............well you know.

His dad did buy all his teammates for him after all.

Good for him. He has good stock in both grandfathers Jerry McKernan played basketball at LSU and Jimmy Fields played football. May not see a snap but I’d bet he sticks it out.

I wonder what his dad’s 40 time was back in his day chasing an ambulance.

Best of Luck to the young man. He could have gone elsewhere- but he wants to be a Tiger. That's what we want a local kid's dream to be. Welcome aboard, JGM!

I don't know anything about the kid, but I bet he's a decent person and excited about walking on to LSU. It's gotta take a lot of guts to come to LSU with all the negative press his dad gets here. Clearly he has the chest to play at LSU. I'll take him before Gunner Kiel any day of the year. Welcome aboard John Gordon. Best of luck to you. I hope you knock 'em dead. Geaux Tigers.

Gunner Kiel was 7 years ago and ultimately a bust. Take blessings in disguise and move on.
