LSU beat writer Glenn Guilbeau got a few quotes from head coach Les Miles on the topic of whether or not there is a chance that either freshmen running backs Derrius Guice or Nick Brossette could redshirt this upcoming season.

Here is what Miles had to say:

Both Guice and Brossette are four-star prospects from Baton Rouge.

The days of top flight players staying in school 5 years are mostly long gone. Besides, many that don't get the playing time they want will transfer anyways. I don't see a tremendous advantage in red shirting players if they can play and contribute early on.

If each of them live up to their recruit ranking or close to it, there's a snowballs chance in hell they stay 5 years anyway.

I don't see the reason to play Brossette unless injury. Williams is a similar back, Ducre is a FB/RB, Guice offers you speed and legit WR ability. Fournette is a monster and Donte Jackson will take some carries. Harris will run A LOT, and Jennings as the backup QB, will run.

I mean I don't think he redshirts, but God forbid injury, all these guys will be back next year as well. This might be a Terrence Magee type deal only because we will be so loaded 2 years straight and he doesn't provide any versatility.

Barring an injury, there's exactly a 0% chance of this happening.
