AD Joe Alleva Issues Statement Regarding LSU-Florida Reschedule

LSU athletic director Joe Alleva issued the following statement regarding the LSU-Florida game which has been rescheduled for Nov. 19 in Baton Rouge. Per LSUSports.net:

Statement from LSU Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva on Florida game:

“We are happy with the decision to have our game against Florida rescheduled for November 19 in Tiger Stadium. As previously reported, it was our wish to have played the game last weekend but all options that we put on the table were declined. After extensive discussion, the University of Florida agreed to play the 2016 contest in Baton Rouge and LSU agreed to play the 2017 game in Gainesville.

“I want to thank the Southeastern Conference, in particular Commissioner Greg Sankey, for his efforts to make sure that we found a place on the schedule to play the game. This is a game that our players and fans look forward to each year and we are appreciative of the lengths that our league office went to in order to make this game happen.

“Historically, we have always enjoyed a great relationship with Florida. We have great respect for their institution and their football program. I hope that we can all learn from this experience and as a league, be in a better position to deal with these situations in the future.”

F--k Florida and there candy arse AD and headcoach. They never wanted to play this game last weekend. Now hopefully LF will be in full stride to run over there arse again.

Sorry, but LSU clearly lost in this situation. A LSU team coming off an emotional win over Mizzou would have crushed a banged up Florida last Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Any advantage that LSU gets by playing Florida at home next week is mitigated by the fact that LSU will be coming off extremely physical games vs. Alabama and Arkansas. Florida also gets to host LSU next year so the "advantage" of five home games this year is negated by the disadvantage of playing at Florida next year. LSU is also placed at a disadvantage by playing Florida instead of USA in a three game 12 day stretch to close the season. Alleva got hosed in this situation. He should have stood firm to "we did everything we could to play the game, Florida didn't want to so make them forfeit or play dec 3". Oh, and the Baton Rouge economy does lose a home game out of the deal. This is an overwhelming net loss for LSU

lsua, according to you the on;y way LSU could "win" was to guarantee that we were ineligible for the SEC championship? gimme a break dude. This game had to be rescheduled and no one thought UF would ever agree to come to BR but somehow they did. After they canceled last weekend, no solution would have been perfect but at least this one gives LSU the home game this year to help the local businesses. December 3rd was NEVER gonna happen because it would affect every school in the country not just the SEC. So stop your whining and realize that while the solution isnt perfect, it's better than we should have expected it to be.

I agree with Isusa, what would make Alleva agree with this deal. LSU looses a home game, although next year, schedule in Nov much tougher. With 2 losses LSU out of the national championship picture, why play this game. Fla with one loss still has a chance. Unless LSUs hands were forced......why?

I wasn't a big fan of Alleva before, but he's gaining my respect big time after this situation. He handled it almost perfectly IMO. Looks like he dealt with this better than that immature pussy AD they have at Florida.
