NC State safety TaMarcus Cooley made his way to Baton Rouge on Wednesday to visit LSU as a possible transfer destination.

Cooley, a redshirt freshman from Knightdale, N.C., began his career at Maryland and transferred to NC State last offseason. He will have three years of eligibility remaining at his next school.

The 6-0, 200-pounder totaled 39 tackles, nine PBU, and three interceptions this season. He was the highest-graded player on NC State’s defense, according to Pro Football Focus.

Fingers crossed but LSU bringing in Db's from the portal has not really gone very well.Sure we get DB starters but that aint saying much at LSU in recent years.

Foucha and Brooks were both excellent players. Both transfer safeties. Short memory.

All 5 DB’s brought in that year were good.

Cooley was 77th rated Safety in the 2023 prospect.

LSU signed the 7th, 17th, and 21st rated safeties in that same class and couldn't develop them.

More and more of these lower rated guys are passing up higher rate prospects because they are getting on field much quicker at smaller programs.

And they work harder the the ones who've been told by everyone that they are great

It's an unpopular opinion but doing away with recruit rainkings would be a good way to combat where NIL is headed. If none of these kids know how they stack up, then the pay to play aspect disappears.

Different Safety Coaches and DC for the other three that didn't develop as expected.

At this pace he could commit to 12 schools before he runs out of eligibility

He's just a little confused

This one makes sense. He signed with Maryland out of HS. Got homesick and went back home. Had an elite season (PFF grade in the 80s), and is now transfering to finally cash in on his talent.
