After having to sit out the 2013-2014 season due to an NCAA eligibility review, LSU will finally have Brian Bridgewater on the roster. At 6'5" 265, he is an undersized post player. As a senior in high school, he led Scotlandville High to the 5A State Championship. He scored 24 points and 13 boards in the championship game.

Brian's brother, Brad Bridgewater, played for LSU's 2000 Sweet 16 team under John Brady. The Baton Rouge native has always wanted to play for LSU and will finally be able to to compete for playing time this season.

Even though he is undersized for a power forward, Coach Jones has been practicing with him down low. Similarly to the way LSU used Shavon Coleman in his first season, Bridgewater could be used in the post as a 6'5" player. Still, if he can continue to develop his ball skills and shooting, he could find more time on the perimeter.

What to expect from Brian Bridgewater:

Brian should get some opportunities early in the year to prove his worth. While he will not be a star at LSU, he could develop into a solid four year contributor, especially if he can move outside and play the shooting forward spot.

This season he will predominantly be playing at 4, which will limit his minutes against top competition. Having a 6'5" PF is a liability defensively so I would expect him to earn most of his minutes out of conference. Still, I would not give up on Bridgewater as a player at LSU. With a couple of years in the system, he could become a dynamic contributor for LSU.

Geaux Tigers!

LSU has him listed as a sophomore. Is there a reason why they wouldn't have been able to use a redshirt on him last year?

I have no idea why he is listed as a sophomore. I'll try and dig up some info on that.

He wasn't that highly recruited in football but I would love to see him get a look at TE.
