At a press conference called by LSU, Jordan Mickey announced his intentions to remain at LSU and forego the NBA draft after his freshman season.

After discussing his future with his parents, and coaches as well as taking into account his NBA evaluation, Mickey has decided it is in his best interest to resume his basketball career at LSU for the upcoming season.

Jordan Mickey was Freshman All-SEC this year and on the Defensive All-SEC team. He averaged 32.8 minutes per game in which he recorded 12.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. He also led the SEC with 3.1 blocks per game.

He joins some other big name SEC players to forego the draft and stay in school including UK's Willie Cauley-Stein and Alex Poythress.

Mickey says he has to get bigger, stronger, and faster before making the jump to the NBA. He also cites his confidence in LSU for next season, saying the Tigers "can go pretty far next year."

Coming into college, Mickey never thought this would be a decision he would have to make. :I just came here wanting to help my team win." With the return of both Mickey and Martin, LSU will have a formidable front court next season. They will also bring in Aaron Epps and Elbert Robinson, two highly rated high school athletes while also having Odo and Malone from the current team.

All I'm hearing is that 1st round wasn't guaranteed. He sat down with his father yesterday and decided to stay.

Im very excited about both. I think Epps will fit in better than Robinson into the offense early.

You really do? Well then I'll retract my statement. I thought Epps was going to be a project as he is still very raw.

Epps is built a lot like Jarrel. He'll be able to get up and down the court and play 3/4 well. He's also long and athletic. That's why he'll fit more.

He's still a raw player, but he'll be a good piece. He'll be able to space the floor a bit as well because he has a decent jump shot.

What about Juco guy that averaged 33 pts? Aren't we adding him or is that in 2 years?

He's as intriguing as any incoming player we have in the 2014 class and that's saying something with big Elbert coming in.

Also hearing Mickey is likely to be invited to the Lebron James Skills Academy this summer. That is a very cool opportunity for him.

I am not in the group that thinks Robinson is ready to be a 20+ min guy. I am thinking

Hickey
Gray
Hornsby
Martin
Mickey

But I agree that the lineup you have will see the floor together.

Possibly. Maybe D-League and look for a few 10 day contracts. Either way, glad he's coming back.
