Louisianna Governor John Bel Edwards spoke to reporters Tuesday morning and commented on the LSU's decision to suspend head coach Will Wade for his comments on an FBI wiretap.

Edwards was also asked if there was a chance Wade can be reinstated...

Here are his full comments:
quote:

“That’s a very tough decision that they made,” Edwards said. "As I understand from the information I received from President Alexander, the decision to suspend him was made after he did not come to a meeting on last Friday to at least give his version of events. It’s hard for me to disagree with that decision under those circumstances although I will tell you it is my fervent hope that coach Wade has a way to clear this up and make sure that everyone understands fully that nothing inappropriate happened and that the player involved; his eligibility gets restored and so forth. Of course, I don't know what the future holds or what the facts are but it's my hope that we can pass this in short order."

“Like everybody else, I’m a huge LSU fan and this is the best year we’ve had in many, many years in terms of our basketball program. And so, hopefully, we can get past this.”

"Certainly, it’s possible because he’s been suspended," Edwards said. "He hasn’t been terminated. It just depends on the facts as they come out and what his version of events is and so forth. So obviously that’s possible, but I can’t make a prediction here today. This is something for the President of the University, but also the Athletic Director, and the Board of Supervisors. They’re the primary players in this, along with the coach. So we’ll have to see how this plays out.”

Why was a meeting called when F King and Joe obviously knew Coach’s attorney wasn’t going to let him talk? Why did they have to create the situation two days before winning a SEC championship? Makes no sense.

His attorney told them he couldn’t go to the meeting and talk about the tapes which is the only reason for the meeting. The board should of said ok we understand and left it alone.

Mr. Governor worry about fixing the roads and the Sunshine Bridge not Basketball.

Yes because answering a question about an issue at the largest educational institution in the state, means the the Governor isn't concerned about the roads or the Sunshine Bridge.

So if you are the Governor of a state, you are not allowed to be a fan of the state university sports and cannot comment about the athletics program? Get real! Some people can do more than one thing at a time and it's just a comment...it's not like he's getting deeply involved and it's causing him to neglect his duties as Governor.

He answered a question. It's not like he went on an unhinged tweet storm at 1:00 in the morning...

"As I understand from the information I received from President Alexander, the decision to suspend him was made after he did not come to a meeting on last Friday to at least give his version of events." The Gov is a lawyer. Wade is under federal subpoena, I am quite sure any lawyer can understand why someone in this position doesn't want to have talks that are not attorney client privileged.

He is subpoenaed not indicted.

Not to mention if he just shows up to say that the Feds can subpoena all the participants of that meeting-Alleva, F King etc... It protects them as well.
