LSU starting pitcher Zach Hess will officially transition to the bullpen starting this weekend vs. Ole Miss, head coach Paul Mainieri announced on Wednesday.

Hess' return to the bullpen was delayed last week when Cole Henry was unable to pitch in Game 1 vs. Alabama last weekend. Henry is still out but Mainieri says now is the right time to move Hess to the bullpen.

This is his natural role and there is no shame in that. There are guys in the show whose only role is to eat innings between the starter and closer! Starter, Hess then Petersen! That is a hell of a line to trot out there!

The Wild Thing returns to his natural habitat! I look forward to seeing Hess' bullpen intensity once again.
