Former LSU player and current undergraduate assistant coach Sean Ochinko is moving over the volunteer/hitting coach role while Micah Gibbs recovers from a serious knee injury that will require surgery, according to Kendall Rogers of D1baseball.com.

Gibbs will remain on staff as he recovers as the director of player development.

Head coach Paul Mainieri said Friday that he cannot comment on potential staff changes but did confirm Gibbs suffered a serious knee injury.

Can he also coach 3rd base?

Ochinko had a better batting average than Gibbs. So maybe, they’ll see an improvement if Sean can pass along his knowledge.

Mainieri is getting lazy, is it really that much of a task to find a qualified hitting coach? Hell, Gibbs wasn't even qualified and he got the job still.
