Mainieri said Broussard, a Baton Rouge native, suffered the injury on Friday night at Vanderbilt when he was hit by a pitch that was ruled a foul ball by the home plate umpire.

Broussard is LSU’s leading hitter this season, batting .363 (29-for-80) with three doubles, one triple, 12 runs, 16 RBI and nine stolen bases. He is the son of Burke Broussard, the starting second baseman on LSU’s 1986 College World Series team.
