Dad Runs On Court & Pushes Down 11-Year-Old During AAU Game After He Hit His Son

As a travel ball parent (Softball) I get the fact is natural instinct. But these are 11 year olds and they can handle themselves. As a parent you teach your kid to defend themselves. My daughter is a catcher, she gets run over from time to time. I have taught her I will not be upset with her if she returns the favor or defends herself. I had a parent one time loudly complain about that my daughter "was a little rough on a tag at home" made some comments directly to her. I didnt go after the kid. I kindly walked over to the dad and asked if he had a problem and another word spoken to my kid and he and I will have an issue. I am not some badass or tough guy but dont speak to my child, ever, and god forbid you put your hands on my kid. So if I was the dad of the kid who got pushed by the parent, the beat down that parent would have taken for putting his hand on my kid would have probably gotten me arrested. So no defense for putting your hands on another persons kid.Its sports teach your kid to stick up for himself OR Take it up with the Parent.. Not an 11 year old. I think he is a coward.

Pretty sure your 11yr old can handle getting that small push from another 11yr old. Let him learn to deal with it instead of acting like a psycho.

First off His son got hit in front of his Dad. So his response was to protect his son. Second he just pushed him. Maybe the little punk will think again before he suckers some one.

You guys think travel ball parents are crazy (they are). You should check out the washed up AAU basketball dads that were "this close" to making the NBA.

As a Dad, you obviously want to protect your own! But... you really shouldn’t touch another child... especially in a sporting event. Let your child even the score on the court.

In an AAU game? Hell yes hes justified. Especially since it was right in front of him. Those crazy tourneys have proven to be full of fights. And have no bearing on the future. Its on to the next, type thinking. All ge did was push him away. He didnt pursue and turned to xare for his son.

We don't know what happened between these two players prior to the thrown punch. However, I've witnessed the "unsportsmanship" which the AAU officials allow during the game. Sometimes it's quite shocking what they're allowed to get away with.

Just let your son foul the living shite out of that guy next time.

Wasn't a push, it was a thrown punch. Dad was protecting his son and slightly shoved the kid. What would you do?
