Arizona Declares Golf Essential Activity & Some Residents Are Ticked Off
© Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports
Looking for something to do? You can head to Arizona and get a tee time. Arizona residents are upset that golf has been declared an essential activity in their state during the current pandemic...
quote:

Officials laid down the new rules in the Grand Canyon State this week ... forcing Arizonans to shelter in place unless they had good reason to leave -- like for jobs or essential activities.

In the order, they deem golf -- along with walking, hiking, running and biking -- as essential exercises ... and some feel that ain't helping stop the spread of coronavirus one bit.

If you think It’s unhealthy to play golf, stay your arse at home and don’t screw with me and my tee time and the beer lady at the club.

You are outside with plenty of space between golfers. Why would you shut golf down or parks for that matter?

Golf - hit a ball, drive a cart to it & whack it again, drive a cart to it & whack it again, etc..... HOW is this even a sport (like fishing & bowling)?

Golf is not an essential activity. The State should have presented the reality - you have to maintain a golf course or it will be destroyed. So, why not let people use it to help fund that maintenance? As an outdoor activity, the risk of transmission is very low.
