This youth baseball coach's speech could be up their with some of the greatest sports speeches ever. Check him out tell his young team that playing is about winning not doing your best. Love it. Clink the link in the tweet...

Guess what...If you don't like this guy....you are a loser! I love this guy. He reminds me of what my coaches used to tell me. I won a lot too!

I think there is a good middle ground. The emphasis put on winning is perfectly fine and should be encouraged. In life there is almost nothing that you should just strive to do your "best". You should strive to succeed. Although sportsmanship and respect for the game and those playing it should never be discounted. It is a worthwhile trait and should be taught as such.

That coach is a great example of what's wrong with youth sports today. I'm not an everybody gets a trophy club either. But to tell his KIDS(AND THEY ARE KIDS) some of the things he did about the other players and their families is WAY out of line. WHATEVER happened to good sportsmanship? I thought that was what sports was supposed to teach KIDS? I officiate youth baseball and a LOT of coaches are miserable people who FAILED in sports and want to relive their youth. AND want people to think that THEY were All Stars when they did play. Oh and PLEASE coaches, before you run on the field and start screaming, KNOW THE RULES.

Seriously. Win goddammit. Cut their fricking balls off. Take the bat and shove it up their arse. Your dad don't like, put a plastic bag over his head while he sleeps. There can be only one champion. Know what that makes 95% of the players. Fuking douchbag losers. You wanna be one of them? Win goddammit

There's a difference between instilling winning values and competitiveness and taking out frustrations with society on little kids while shaming their fathers -- this guy is a douche. Period.

If you take kids baseball seriously you actually are a pathetic loser.

It's not about kids baseball, its about actually having high expectations for yourself in life and sports is a great place to start teaching this. We need less of "everyone gets a trophy because everyone had fun and that's all that matters!" We need more of "If you want a trophy practice/train harder for next season!" Promotions, college degrees, raises, etc aren't just given to you because you "had fun". You gotta work for them. It's debilitating to a child to raise them till their into their teens with this "everyone gets a trophy" mentality then have the real world kick them in the teeth because you are no longer just handed crap.
