yep, it's illegal in the NBA. I remember seeing Larry Bird hit a shot like that and they waved it off. Don't know why - as long as the ball doesn't hit the supports or the top of the backboard, it should be legal.

How was that a game winner? Did I miss something here? The scoreboard appeared to read 54 to 52 after the second to last shot. Either the scoreboard wasn't updated quickly enough, or the video skipped a play.
