ESPN's Colin Cowherd took shots at New Orleans on Tuesday. He calls it the least safe city with a lack of hotel rooms. Listen to it here.

Starts off like it's going to be a rip, but he has some half decent points, and he actually ends up complementing the city in a backhanded way. In my opinion, NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

I say that because he could have made this same rant August 24, 2005, and it still would be mostly factual.

Plus we were reeling in all of the big events before then-Super Bowls, Final Fours, College Bowl Games, political conventions. New Orleans getting major events is not the anomaly, it's the NORM, Colin. Lol.

I agree with him. I work in N.O. and see it on a daily basis. Not to mention the first 10 - 15 minutes of every newcast that we donate to murders, assults, and robberies!!!

"Only two Major cities where locals will stop you and warn you not to go that way, Detroit and New Orleans"

Memphis is FAR worse than New Orleans...FAR worse.

I live in Los Angeles and believe me, there are lots of places you dont go after dark. lots of places i wont go during the day.

many of those places are downtown. Anyone here ever heard of Skid Row? Doesn't lead to murders at the Staples Center. You just dont go there.

crime really isn’t any different, it’s the just lower population count which reflects a higher percentage of crime. bottom line, the major sporting events come here for the same reason, it’s a place like no other, the culture, the food, the ambience, the history, and the escape to an old world city

All major cities become dangerous when the sun goes down. And all that bull shite about people telling you not to go to certain places after a certain time. I believe that almost every city in the U.S. has parts of their city that people should not go to because its "dangerous".

Hahaha. I posted before I listened. That's honest. And I debated his rant from the safety, to the movie industry, to the number of large events, to the fact he is jealous. I honestly posted before I even listened to his jealous rant. Hahaha, what a predictable, pathetic joke.

The city is not really any less safe than other cities. If your not looking for drugs or hanging out on the corner in the bad areas of town than you are not much more likely to get robbed, mugged, or raped than any other major city.

And as far as lack of hotel rooms, what a clown. We got tons of hotel rooms but we also have a large tourist base. There is a reason for that, because most people who visit/vacation leave safe and happy. I guess he doesn't like the fact that we are laid back and easy going people with culture. Or maybe he is jealous because we are gaining a large portion of the filming industry and are awarded so many big events because we are a fun and safe city for tourist who don't go where they don't belong.

It's his loss he likes sticking to a routine in a city full of uptight snobs. I never listen or watch anythinh with him because he is a big marke, corporate pushover.

I had to fix auto correct and repost. I apologize

He's right. I don't get the deal with the airport though. If it can handle the traffic efficiently then what is the big deal? I'm not hanging out there.

he’s right about most, so he doesn’t get it, and he says he doesn’t get, but it’s the "city that care forgot” and that’s the draw ... and there’s much more too ...
