Multiple sources are reporting that Auburn redshirt freshman quarterback Joey Gatewood has left the team and attends to transfer. Per AuburnSports.com:
quote:

He didn't practice with the team Tuesday while considering his next move. This morning, he informed coach Gus Malzahn of his decision to leave the program.

The native of Jacksonville, Fla., has spent this season as Bo Nix's backup — getting game action mostly as a change-of-pace player against good teams and mop-up duty during blowout victories.
Head coach Gus Malzahn confirmed the news on Wednesday.

He isn't going to be the starter. Gus is all in on Bo Nix and Gatewood would spend the rest of his career at Auburn as the dreaded change of pace QB barring a horrific injury. He might as well transfer and see what he can find.

If he can't pass the ball better than Bo Nix. Maybe he should just change positions.

"Auburn redshirt freshman quarterback Joey Gatewood has left the team and attends to transfer" attends? Intends!

"Attends" could be correct, since attend can also mean "to deal with".

Don’t blame him one bit to be benched indefinitely when your starter has >50% completions

Gatewood is a quitter. That will be his legacy.
