Multiple sources are reporting that Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin was contacted by the San Francisco 49ers for their open OC job. NinersNation.com first reported the news:

The San Francisco 49ers contacted Alabama offensive coordinator, Lane Kiffin, to discuss the possibility of him joining Chip Kelly's coaching staff in the same job title, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. The specifics are unclear as to exactly what happened, but contact was made.
Kiffin who just helped Alabama win a National Championship in his second year in Tuscaloosa reportedly turned down an offer to be UCLA's offensive coordinator earlier this month.

That doesn't make a lot of sense considering that Chip and Lane have different offenses, but whatever.

Waste of money. They look at the defenses he faced and he'll never get a NFL job.

he would be dumb to take that job. that would be a lateral move to a worse team, or even a step down. and i'm a bama hater.

Hate the man, but he has done a pretty good job as Bama's OC. A lot of SEC teams would have loved to have the output he did at Bama the last couple of years.
