Bought a sirloin tip. Am I screwed using a sirloin tip for Mississippi roast? Thanks guys.

Nope. I’ve used a rump roast. Your roast will be delicious.

Thank you. Do I have to cook it longer? My daughter is coming in from college on spring break and she wanted it. All she really cares about is the gravy and mashed taters anyway.

Sorry, I generally put 6 - 8 hours on the crockpot and just stop early if done earlier, regardless of cut of roast.

Sirloin tip is less fatty. If you use that recipe with the fricking butter the Sirloin will probably be better.

I have used the MS roast recipe on beef tips with different cuts of beef and it turned out great. Shouldn't be a problem.

We usually keep that away from the food.

I'm always at a loss for words when someone mentions a Mississippi Roast. I spent most of my life there.
Not a single fricker in Mississippi cooks a roast this way.
The lady who invented it said she did so due to her family's roast being too spicy.
Who the hell makes spicy arse roast?

According to Southern Living, Mississippi Pot Roast was the invention of Robin Chapman, a mom from Ripley, Mississippi who stumbled upon the creation in the '90s when she tried to make her aunt's pot roast recipe less spicy for her kids. The roast was a hit, and so it became a regular part of the Chapman's rotating dinner menu.

No one in Mississippi does this.
My grandmothers, aged 95 and 91, are both still alive and neither of them has ever heard of adding peppers to roast.

I was just answering the question as to who makes spicy roast. Cajuns, that’s who.

Grew up in Mississippi in the ‘60’s into the ‘80’s. This recipe wasn’t used around my house for sure…and mom was an excellent cook.
I use a variation of the recipe.
My roast is much better than my mom’s.
