Must have been Travis' lucky or unlucky day, if normally it would take an overt crime to be arrested in a Natchitoches library. I think it was the arrival of officer Thurman Miller that reversed the overwhelming odds....

I think the reasoning was that the jail time was not automatic, but at the judge's discretion. Of course in the end the judge discretely threw the book at him, so......
