re: Writing a check against a credit card account - is there a catch? - RJSambola
I think people are dramatically underestimating the fee that will accompany the check. I wouls assume it is treated as a cash advance which is probably hit with a percentage fee of 3%. Immediately eating up any interest gains. Maybe you get to net zero if you get rewards for it. But usually cash adv...

re: Bond funds for long-term savings? - RJSambola
Theoretically you could if the fund stopped new acquisitions, however the fund itself will continually add more bonds pushing the duration to the target duration of the fund instead of reaching 0. Hopefully that typed as well as my brain thought it....

re: 50,000 Dow - RJSambola
I think we will get there. The amount of money in the market via passive funds will push it there. Inflation caused by increased investment dollars. re: Credit Score Drop - RJSambola
Exactly that. The report pulls on a certain day of the month. If you aren't shopping for a loan i would wait until the last day to pay (maximize your 0.0% loan term). When it comes time to shop for a loan pay it 3 or 4 days before the reporting date....

re: What is the best wealth building strategy out there? - RJSambola
I've heard BOIL has become predictable. Seems like a good way to build wealth. Seriously though, real estate has to be it. But early on a string of bad renters will kill you, especially in a state with heavy tenant protection laws....

re: Best way to payoff mortgage early? - RJSambola
This is one of those things that rationally makes sense, but emotionally the thought of having the biggest debt albatross of your life removed from your neck makes it hard to justify taking it to term.
